
His playing has been described as “masterful,” Zack Borowiec is a freelance oboist and educator in Los Angeles. He is currently playing principal oboe with the Westside Chamber Orchestra and Orchestra Santa Monica, and second oboe with the Santa Monica Symphony Orchestra, in addition to working with many orchestras in Southern California. He also teaches Oboe Masterclass and Chamber Music at Orange County School of the Arts. He previously held the position of principal oboe in the Orquesta Filarmónica de Boca del Río in Veracruz, Mexico under the baton of Jorge Mester. A talented performer whose musical passion is evidenced in his playing, he has performed as a soloist alongside members of the Berlin Philharmonic, as well as the Vienna Philharmonic woodwind section. He holds a BM from Northwestern University and a MM from the University of Southern California. His professors include Allan Vogel, Michael Henoch, and Toyin Spellman-Diaz.
Zack often plays in New York City, where he is originally from. When he is not playing music, Zack loves to study languages, play with his two cats Bleecker and Kiki, and explore Los Angeles.
